I first heard your music playing in the giftshop aboard the Digby/St. John ferry on a recent Nova Scotia vacation. I copied down the name of the CD from the clerk and found "Sailing Ships and Sailing Men" at at the third record store I went to in St. John, N.B. I have greatly enjoyed it. What keeps coming across to me as I play and replay it is the spirit of the music. You have found a way to articulate both the emotion of the song and the emotion of the workday event when the song might have been sung. I especially like that the chorus sounds - and I mean this very complimentary - like just a bunch of guys singing. It doesn't sound over-refined and arty. It is heartfelt singing as handsome as a raw plank of wood. I think that is a considerable achievement. I think you have a Grammy Award contender in this CD, good luck.

Hi Guys, I travelled for seventeen hours last Thursday night to catch you at the Marine Bar on Friday 1st of June with my great friend Bill from Bristol. Despite suffering Coach-Lag we wouldn't have missed it for the world! Without doubt it was one of the most impressive nights of music and entertainment anyone could wish for. I guess the thing that astounded me most was an invite on stage from Mick the Hooligan with Christy, Caroline and the rest of the gang to join you in the final song of the night. Despite having played and sung for well over thirty years - sometimes in front of well known singers including Ralph McTell and Paul Simon (in fact I knew Ralph when he was Ralph May), I confess that hiding behind you guys and being able to join in was one of the highlights of my musical career - albeit brief. I hope to be living in Old Parish within a few weeks, so I look forward to seeing you when you are next over. By the way Brian, please thank your mad brother Nigel for being so entertaining he contributed in no small way to what was a very special night.

It is great to see that you are hoping to be in Ireland from the 21st to the 31st of May this year. Providing you are able to confirm those dates, Kate and I look forward to seeing you at the Marine Bar. It is now a couple of years since we first enjoyed your music there, so we are very keen to hear you again. I run a Folk Club here in England and I know it would be fantastic to arrange some gigs over here if possible. The British Folk enthusiasts don't know what they are missing! I went to your new pub and eatery. It's atmosphere was nice and I am glad to see that you have made the establishment accessible to wheelchairs, however, while I see where the entrance is for the ramp there is a slight lift to get in which may be a problem for those in electric wheelchairs as my husband is. Also, you seem to have wide variety of food on the menu, your fish and chips are not bad, but, the fish was done a bit to much on the outside, just to let you know.

Thanks for over a decade of joyful song and your commitment to things that matter in your music. Thanks to you, also, "Waltzing with Bears" (see last name) has become part of our family's musical performance - we've sprung it on unsuspecting audiences all over the US and elsewhere in Europe and India.
